Romeo & Julia
Romeo and Juliet are two young people whose love transcends the hatred between their feuding families. Despite the odds being stacked against them, they choose each other, knowing full well that their love has no chance. However, their love is stronger than the violence surrounding them, and despite the tragic ending, it becomes a symbol of hope.
Their timeless story has enriched the worlds of literature, music, the visual arts and theatre. Shakespeare made the Verona lovers immortal; Sergei Prokofiev brought Shakespeare's drama to life through dance. His stirring music brings strong characters to life and truly conveys the powerful emotions of love, anger and despair. At the heart of this dance piece is Juliet: a strong, rebellious young woman who prioritises love and belief over her own life.
